Dr's Remedy polishes

Man, I’m completely recovered from my illness now, but I’m still playing catch up. I’ve got TONS of swatches banked, and I got a bunch of them cropped and ready to post last night but…then my connection crapped out halfway through this post so I gave up without getting them uploaded.

I recently got the chance to try some polishes from Dr’s Remedy, and as I’m always interested in trying out new brands, I said heck yeah!

OK, so let’s get into the swatches! My thoughts and the press release after that.

Desire, 2 coats.

I really like this one! I don’t know what it is but I’m always thinking to myself that I MUST acquire more browns for my collection…nevermind that I never ever wear browns! A nice brown seems classy to me though. I was drooling over the browns in the OPI Texas collection last night too. Anyway, the opacity on this was great, it applied like a dream, and dried glossy and beautiful. This is a really nice dark chocolatey brown color, not reddish.

Healing, 3 coats.

This is a fairly sheer, extremely light gray creme. It gives me lobster hands like crazy! This one jumped out at me the most of the three, but since I tried it after I saw the awesomeness of Desire, I was disappointed in the opacity. It’s not that sheer compared to other polishes, but Desire got my hopes up that these would all be wonderfully opaque! I adore grays though, and I like seeing a gray in a line of polishes like this that seems to be mostly reds and pinks.

Revive, 2 coats.

Blah. This is a pretty enough polish, but it’s awfully dupeable. I feel like I’ve seen it a thousand times! Opacity was good on this one also! This is maybe a bit darker than my picture shows.

My thoughts:

I didn’t really expect much from these polishes, so I ended up being pleasantly surprised! The bottles are pretty cute, and cute bottles are a lot more important to me than they should be. Nice square shape and rubberized cap. These all applied really well, I had absolutely no issues. The brush was very easy to use – though the bristles were a little longer than I normally prefer, it didn’t end up being a problem at all.

I can’t really speak for the anti-fungal properties of the polish, but a polish line made by doctors who try to include anti-fungal ingredients has to be a good thing, right? The website says they’re B3F, too…but of course, just about every polish nowadays is B3F.

A downside for me would be the high price – $16. I’m notoriously polish-cheap, but a polish has to be pretty darned special for me to spend that much on it (ok, so I’ve NEVER spent that much on a polish)…and this line seems to have a pretty limited color selection.

  • I may one day pay the big bucks for an Illamasqua, Rescue Beauty Lounge, Lippmann, Channel, or Dior. Just to say I have them and I’d for sure pick out one that I am just dying to put on my fingers. But for the most part, I just balk at any price above $5. I am just soooooo spoiled by clearance sales and Dollar Tree.

heck yeah!! I think DT might have spoiled me forever also, seriously. This is the reason I don’t own any Nubars or Nfu Ohs, really – forget Chanels!!!!

  • “I’m notoriously polish-cheap” High five! Im also polish cheap xD

    • Jeannie

hehe seriously! I decided not to buy the $8 Coat Azure on TD the other night cause omg, $8 for a polish!!!

    • I’m cheap too! lol But yeah, so far $8 is the highest price I’ve paid for…a couple of Essies. When I saw the display at Walmart completely untouched I had to pick out a couple of them, and boy, was I ever disappointed. I’ve never had a polish that bubbled on me like that. Sally Hansens usually give me a bubble or two, but this Essie had my entire manicure covered in them!

      • Jeannie

oh wow, that seems crazy for Essies! Maybe it was the application conditions? I think you should give it another try – I personally don’t like Essies very much, but bubbling hasn’t ever been my problem with any of them. Or, maybe it’s just a body chemistry thing, I guess.

        • I’m thinking it’s probably body chemistry. It reminds me, I’ve read that some bloggers have problems with Zoya’s drying time, it never dries on them. Meanwhile, I got the three free ones from the Facebook code, and they dried as quickly as any other polish on me. So I think that might be a body chemistry issue for those bloggers.

As I mentioned I do get a bubble or two from some Sally Hansens, but those I’d chalk up to impatience, not waiting long enough for the second coat.

          • Jeannie

yes! Zoyas are crazy that way. For me, it seems to be the individual polish that is the problem, I think…some Zoyas are, like you said, perfect and just like any other polish, and others just stay dentable for the entire day on me. It is WEIRD.

  • These are really pretty but yeah $16 is bit high :)
